OSHPD Awards $3.2M to Health Care Workforce Training Programs
The California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development has awarded $3.2 million in grants to nursing education and physician assistant programs in an effort to boost the state's health care workforce, Payers & Providers reports.
OSHPD awarded $2.8 million to 17 nursing programs and nearly $400,000 to four physician assistant programs.
The nursing education grants came from OSHPD's Song-Brown workforce training program, while funding for the physician assistant programs came from an OSHPD program established in 2009 to boost the number of physician assistants in the state's mental health care system.
Grant recipients include:
- Azusa Pacific University;
- Fresno City College; and
- Five California State University campuses (Payers & Providers, 3/29).
