More Medi-Cal Recipients Report Serious Psychological Stress

According to a report on chronic conditions released by the California Health Care Foundation in 2015, the prevalence of serious psychological distress among Californians is more than twice as high among those with Medi-Cal or some other public insurance than those with private insurance. Many people with chronic conditions delay getting needed care and of those with serious psychological distress, 34 percent delayed needed medical care, and 27 percent delayed filling prescriptions. Cost or lack of insurance was frequently cited as the reason for these delays.
