California Hospitals Begin Submitting Reports on Compliance With Seismic Safety Standards

California hospitals recently filed reports with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development detailing their progress onÂ meeting state seismic safety requirements.

State lawÂ calls forÂ hospitals to replace or update buildings at risk of collapse during an earthquake. Some hospitals have faced difficulty complying with the mandates because of the costs involvedÂ with retrofittingÂ facilities.

In a California Healthline Special Report by Kelly Wilkinson, experts discussed hospitals’ efforts to improve seismic safety.
