California's School-Based Health Centers See Promise, Challenges in the Affordable Care Act

In a California Healthline Special Report by Rachel Dornhelm, experts discussed how the Affordable Care Act could lead to new opportunities and challenges for California’s school-based health centers.

Although the ACA provided $30 million to build or remodel school-based health centers, it did not set aside additional money to continue supporting the clinics.

Experts say that school-based clinics could play new roles under the ACA, such as helping more residents sign up for coverage through Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program.
