In a California Healthline report by David Gorn, experts discussed an attempt to transform the health system in Lake County, which has some of the worst health indicators in the state. The project is one of five pilots in small communities across the nation. It’s called the Way to Wellville, and a Silicon Valley philanthropist and investor launched the effort to serve as a possible model for the rest of the country.
The report includes comments from:
- Esther Dyson, technology investor and founder of the Way to Wellville project;
- Marshall Kubota, regional medical director of the Partnership HealthPlan of California;
- Chad Lindsay, a homeless man from Porterville living in Lake County;
- David Santos, CEO of St. Helena Hospital in Clearlake; and
- Karen Tait, health officer in Lake County’s public health department in Lakeport (Gorn, California Healthline, 07/06/15).
