Health 2.0 Conference Focuses on Patient-Centered Technology To Promote Wellness

During last week’s Health 2.0 Conference in San Francisco, technology developers showcased new gadgets designed to help consumers play a bigger role in their health care.

The new tools include smartphone applications, body sensors and games that challenge users to practice healthy habits.

In a California Healthline Special Report by Deirdre Kennedy, experts discussed how patient-centered technology could improve health care delivery as health insurers and other payers start to emphasize preventive care.

The Special Report includes comments from:

  • Jonathan Attwood, CEO of Zamzee;
  • Stephen Downs, chief technology and information officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation;
  • Chris Hewett, founder of Mindbloom;
  • Farzad Mostashari, national coordinator for health information technology; and
  • Christine Robins, CEO of BodyMedia (Kennedy, California Healthline, 10/4).

The complete transcript of this Special Report is available as a PDF.
