Having A Baby In Northern California? It’ll Cost You.

Raising kids is undoubtedly an expensive endeavor, but having them can also be expensive — especially if you live in two of Northern California’s cities.

Castlight Health looked at the cost of routine vaginal and cesarean deliveries in the 30 largest U.S. metropolitan areas and found that Sacramento and San Francisco ranked as the top two most expensive cities for both kinds of deliveries.

Not only did delivery prices range from city to city across the country, they also ranged within cities themselves — in San Francisco, for example, the cost for a cesarean delivery ranged from $8,399 to $41,191, a five-fold price difference.
