Medical Marijuana Advocates Seek Signatures for Ballot Initiative To Legalize Dispensaries in Costa Mesa

The Orange County chapter of Americans for Safe Access is circulating a petition to allow eight medical marijuana dispensaries to legally open in Costa Mesa. The petition, which needs 4,896 signatures to qualify for the November ballot, would restrict areas the dispensaries could operate, require stores to have security guards, require workers to receive background checks and allow the city to collect a 6% sales tax. Census Bureau: Health Spending Likely To Change as Number of U.S. Residents 65 and Older Doubles by 2050

A Census Bureau report released Tuesday finds that the number of U.S. residents age 65 and older is expected to nearly double from 43.1 million in 2012 to 83.7 by 2050, spurring “profound changes” in health care spending and federal programs. L.A. Supervisors Work To Address Inmates With Mental Illnesses, Other Medical Problems
