As of today, Dec. 5, only 10 more shopping days remain for consumers who buy their own Affordable Care Act health insurance on the federal exchange, healthcare.gov, and in most state marketplaces.
But Californians who purchase their health insurance through Covered California, the state’s Obamcare exchange — or in the private market —have more time than that. Their deadline to sign up for 2018 coverage is Jan. 31. If they want their coverage to start on Jan. 1, however, they must sign up by Dec. 15.
