CalPERS has teamed up with Blue Shield of California, Hill Physicians Medical Group and Catholic Healthcare West on an effort to control health care costs and improve health care quality. Â
A California Healthline Special Report by Pat McConahay includes comments from:
- Juan Davila, senior vice president of network management for Blue Shield of California;
- Greg Franklin, assistant executive officer for health benefits services for CalPERS; and
- David Lansky, president and CEO of the Pacific Business Group on Health.
The effort is intended to provide comprehensive health care services using a “virtual integrated model.” Other efforts call for using price transparency and purchasing power to control costs (McConahay, California Healthline, 5/5).
