Calif. To Expand Kettleman City Toxic Waste Landfill Despite Residents’ Health Concerns

On Wednesday, California officials announced that a plan to expand hazardous waste landfill in Kettleman City has been approved, despite residents' concerns about the health effects, such as birth defects. Under the plan, the landfill -- which is the largest toxic waste site in the western U.S. -- could be expanded by 50%.
