California Endowment Rolls Out Funding for Kids’ Health Coverage
The California Endowment has announced $7.75 million in grants to 20 groups that operate Children's Health Initiative programs in 23 counties, the Fresno Bee reports (Fresno Bee, 11/18).Â
The grants are intended as one-year commitments to the CHI programs, which provide medical, dental, vision and mental health coverage for children who are not eligible for government-funded health insurance programs. Funds will also help enroll eligible children in Medi-Cal and Healthy Families, California's Medicaid program and its version of the State Children's Health Insurance Program, respectively.
About 80,000 children in California receive coverage through CHI efforts (California Endowment release, 11/18). This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations. Sign up for an email subscription.
