Avanti Hospitals
Steven Blake has been appointed CFO of Avanti Hospitals, a four-hospital health system in El Segundo.
Blake previously served as president of the Southern California chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and was a trustee of the California Hospital Association (Rubenfire, Modern Healthcare, 10/19).
California Board of Registered Nursing
On Oct. 28, Gov. Jerry Brown (D) made two appointments to the California Board of Registered Nursing:
- Trande Phillips (D); and
- Pilar De La Cruz-Reyes (D).

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation

Los Angeles County Office of Child Protection
Michael Nash is expected to be appointed director of Los Angeles County's new Office of Child Protection.
Nash previously served as the presiding judge of the county's juvenile court (Therolf, "L.A. Now," Los Angeles Times, 10/29).

On Oct. 28, Brown appointed Kristina Daniel Lawson (D) to the Medical Board of California.

Yair Katz has been named CFO of MemorialCare Health System's Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach.
Katz previously served as assistant vice president and associate university controller at the University of Southern California (MemorialCare Health System release, 10/28).
Osteopathic Medical Board of California
On Oct. 28, Brown made two appointments to the Osteopathic Medical Board of California:
- Cyrus Fram Buhari; and
- Elizabeth Jensen-Blumberg (D).
