California HealthCare Foundation Releases Three Studies in iHealth Reports Series
The California HealthCare Foundation, as part of the organization's iHealth Reports series, has released three studies on "emerging concepts" in health care. A brief summary of the reports, conducted by the First Consulting Group, appears below.
- E-Disease Management: The report examines the "forms and functions of e-disease management" and offers "practical advice" on the practice, which has the potential to reduce health care costs and improve patient health. The study should serve as an "information resource" for potential users. The report is available at http://admin.chcf.org/documents/ehealth/EDiseaseManagement.pdf.
- E-Prescribing: The report examines e-prescribing in the health care industry today, as well as "obstacles to adoption" of the practice and potential for future use. The report is available at http://admin.chcf.org/documents/ehealth/EPrescribing.pdf.
- E-Encounters: The report examines e-encounters, Web-based communications that offer patients access to more affordable and "convenient" health care. In addition, the study reviews available products and their impact, as well as anecdotal information on the use of Web-based physician-patient communications. The report is available at http://admin.chcf.org/documents/ehealth/EEncounters.pdf.
