CalPERS Rolls Out Integrated Care Pilot Project in Capital Area
On Wednesday, CalPERS announced a year-long pilot program that aims to decrease health care costs by creating an integrated care system, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Blue Shield of California, Catholic Healthcare West and Hill Physicians Medical Group are working with CalPERS for the initiative. With the cooperation of its medical partners, Blue Shield has agreed not to increase its premiums for CalPERS members that participate.
The program will be open to CalPERS members who live or work in Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado counties. Enrollment will occur during the fall open enrollment process.
Blue Shield spokesperson Aron Ezra said the program might not be extended "if the numbers don't work out" (Calvan, Sacramento Bee, 4/23). This is part of the California Healthline Daily Edition, a summary of health policy coverage from major news organizations. Sign up for an email subscription.
