CareScience to Use Intel IAS in Care Data Exchange Program
The online care management solutions company CareScience Inc. is integrating Intel Internet Authentication Services into its Care Data Exchange program, which enables health care organizations to exchange clinical information online. The program will use Intel IAS to make online transactions more secure. Care Data Exchange locates and indexes data from participating organizations, and Intel IAS will allow authorized users to identify available patient records and their location. CareScience also will offer health information technology companies participating in the CareStandard Select program the opportunity to use Intel IAS. CareScience CEO Dr. David Brailer said, "Health care organizations have realized that building large central data repositories is not a viable solution to sharing valuable clinical information. CareScience has developed a revolutionary peer-to-peer technology that allows access to data without moving it from the original source. Intel IAS will help provide some of the necessary elements of trust for file sharing over the Internet." Care Data Exchange is being piloted in Santa Barbara County, with funding from the California HealthCare Foundation (CareScience Inc. release, 1/4).
