Covered California Releases Regional Enrollment Information
On Tuesday, Covered California released regional enrollment data for health plans sold through the insurance exchange as of Jan. 31, the Los Angeles Times' "Money & Co." reports.
Details of Regional Enrollment
Los Angeles County had the highest enrollment of any county in California, with 198,158 residents selecting coverage through the exchange. According to "Money & Co.," enrollment in the Los Angeles region surpassed enrollment numbers in more than 40 states (Karlamangla, "Money & Co.," Los Angeles Times, 3/6).
More than 169,000 of Los Angeles residents who signed up for coverage through the exchange qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [1], 3/4).
Covered California also reported that as of Jan. 31:
- 27,853 consumers in Northern California counties had enrolled in plans through the exchange, including more than 25,000 who qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [2], 3/4);
- 38,507 consumers in four Sacramento-area counties had enrolled in coverage, including more than 34,000 who qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [3], 3/4);
- 50,985 consumers in six Central Coast counties had enrolled in coverage, including more than 44,000 who qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [4], 3/4);
- 51,524 consumers in nine Central Valley counties had enrolled in coverage, including nearly 47,000 who qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [5], 3/4);
- 58,999 consumers in San Bernardino and Riverside counties had enrolled in coverage, including more than 52,000 who qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [6], 3/4);
- 63,846 consumers in San Diego County had enrolled in coverage, including more than 54,000 who qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [7], 3/4);
- 72,906 consumers in Orange County had enrolled in coverage, including more than 63,000 who qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [8], 3/4); and
- 163,512 consumers in the San Francisco Bay Area had enrolled in coverage, including more than 134,000 who qualified for subsidies (Covered California release [9], 3/4).
