L.A. County Report Prompts Meeting on Women’s Health
About 300 medical experts met in Los Angeles last week to discuss the importance of women's health as a distinct field of medicine, KPCC's "KPCC News" reports.
At the conference, the Los Angeles County Office of Women's Health released a report indicating that county women fare poorly on several health indicators, including diet, exercise and chronic disease rates.
The "KPCC News" report includes comments on the study and the field of women's health from:
- Jennifer Mieres, a cardiologist at New York University Medical Center and a consultant for the women's health program Her Heart Community; and
- Rita Single, medical director at the county Office of Women's Health (Roman, "KPCC News," KPCC, 5/31).
A transcript and audio of the KPCC segment are available online.
