McKESSSON: Wins $5 Billion Columbia Contract
"McKesson Corp., the largest U.S. drug wholesaler, said it won a new $5 billion supply contract with Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp., taking business from its biggest rival, Cardinal Health Inc., Bloomberg News/Los Angeles Times reports (5/29). The San Francisco-based company said the agreement should generate revenue of $450 million annually through 2002, while another piece of the agreement is expected to generate $550 million from 2000 till 2004 (Wall Street Journal, 5/29). "Under the contract," the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports, Columbia "will rely on McKesson for everything from sutures to drugs to bedpans" (Weatherford, 5/29).
