Medi-Cal’s Fresno Office To Close Next Year
Medi-Cal officials on Thursday announced that the program's Fresno office will close in November 2007, the Fresno Bee reports. Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program.
The Fresno office performed authorization services, including approving coverage of outpatient therapy and inpatient hospital stays.
Toby Douglas, assistant deputy director of Medi-Cal, said the closure is part of a statewide effort to "streamline services," according to the Bee. He said there will be no impact on Medi-Cal beneficiaries or providers.
The 40 employees affected by the closure will have the opportunity to be transferred to another Medi-Cal office or work in other state positions in the area (Boyles, Fresno Bee, 12/1).
