NETSMART: DEVELOPING BEHAVIORAL HEALTH MSO SYSTEM

that it has signed a contract with five California counties to
develop the California Outpatient Consolidation Management of
Services Organizations (MSO) System. The MSO System is designed
for the introduction of managed care in behavioral health
organizations and is scheduled for implementation beginning this
fall. The MSO System consists of modules that assist behavioral
health organizations in provider management, membership
management, contract management, case management, claims
processing and reporting. The five counties involved in the deal
are Fresno, Imperial, Mendocino, Sacramento and San Diego.
Gerald Koop, Netsmart vice president, said, "The California MSO
System will become a model for Netsmart's county mental health
national marketing efforts" (Netsmart release, 3/11).
