No-Cost Medical Care Provided at Health Fair
Modesto residents on Sunday were able to receive no-cost medical and dental services at the fifth annual Health, Safety and Energy Fair, the Modesto Bee reports. The fair was sponsored by the Tzu Chi Foundation, a not-for-profit group that organizes doctors to volunteer their services, and other local organizations.
Patients had access to a general physician, dentist, acupuncturist and chiropractor. Organizer Zita Yi said about 200 people were expected to use the services.
A local drug store also donated over-the-counter medicines, such as allergy medications, and said it would pay for any prescriptions written at the fair. A Tzu Chi representative said the pharmacy's donation likely would total between $2,000 and $3,000 at minimum (Golden, Modesto Bee, 7/17).
