Nursing School Slated To Open Next Month
A new four-year nursing school at California State University-San Marcos is 90% complete and "on target" to open Aug. 24, when the first class begins, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The school will admit 44 students in the first semester and an additional 44 spaces are expected to be available during the second semester.
Judith Papenhausen, director of the school, said the faculty would consist of four tenured faculty members and one lecturer.
The facility will have two patient care rooms that are identical to rooms that will be built at Palomar Pomerado's future hospital, which is expected to open in 2011. The school also will have training rooms for pediatric, critical and other types of care and a computer lab where students will learn how to document lab results or list medications in patient files (Lou, San Diego Union-Tribune, 7/19).
