Sen. Sheila Kuehl (D-Los Angeles) amended a bill (SB 743) to require hospitals to evaluate their processes for identifying, reporting and preventing medical errors. The original legislation dealt with ports (Bill text, 5/2). The bill was withdrawn from the Senate Rules Committee and referred to that chamber's health committee (Bill Status, 5/3).
