Program Gives Patients More Say in End-of-Life Care
A program -- called Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment, or POLST -- encourages patients nearing the end of their lives to discuss with their families the kind of end-of-life care they would like to receive. Six states are using the POLST model, and more states are considering adopting a variation of the program.
