Supreme Court To Hear Case on Human Gene Patenting
On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that it will hear a case involving patents on two genes associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancers to determine whether human genes can be patented. The court will decide whether isolated genes are "products of nature" or "human-made inventions," which can be patent protected.
