Tenet Healthcare Announces Closure of Century City Hospital
Santa Barbara-based Tenet Healthcare has notified Los Angeles County that it plans to close Century City Hospital on April 30 and will close its emergency room in 90 days, the Los Angeles Times reports. According to Tenet spokesperson David Langness, the company decided to close the facility after failing to reach an agreement with the owner of the hospital building. Langness said the hospital's closure is unrelated to new state-mandated nurse-to-patient staffing ratios, which took effect Jan. 1. Century City Hospital is the second hospital closure in Los Angeles County announced this month (Richardson, Los Angeles Times, 1/14). Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte on Friday closed its ER and acute care facility but will continue to operate its outpatient surgery center, fertility clinic and 177-bed skilled nursing facility (California Healthline, 1/9).
