The Week Ahead
Monday
The Senate Appropriations Committee will consider bills including:
- AB 329 by Assembly member Alan Nakanashi (R-Lodi) to create a pilot program to expand telemedicine services and examine how to use health information technology to treat chronic illnesses; and
- AB 570 by Assembly member Cathleen Galgiani (D-Stockton) to establish Medi-Cal reimbursement rates for intermediate care facilities for people with developmental disabilities.
Tuesday
The U.S. Senate Finance Committee is expected to vote on legislation to reauthorize the State Children's Health Insurance Program, although advisers to President Bush warn that they are opposed to the bill and will recommend a veto should it pass.
Thursday
The Department of Managed Health Care will hold a public hearing in Los Angeles to discuss complaints filed against Blue Cross of California since the merger of its parent company with Anthem in 2004.
Friday
The Legislature will begin its summer recess upon adjournment, provided that the state budget has been approved.
