The Assembly and Senate will be adjourned in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Senate Appropriations Committee will consider legislation (SB 349) by Senate President Pro Tempore Don Perata (D-Oakland) that seeks to require insurers to provide paper copies of medical bills to policyholders who do not consent to electronic billing.
The Senate Health Committee is scheduled to consider a compromise health care reform bill (ABX1 1) negotiated by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) and Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez (D-Los Angeles). The hearing was rescheduled from Jan. 16.
The Assembly Public Employees, Retirement and Social Security Committee will hold a joint hearing with the Senate Public Employees and Retirement Committee to discuss the findings of a recent report on retiree health care costs by the Public Employee Post-Employment Benefits Commission.
Jan. 25 is the last day for Assembly and Senate committees to report legislation to the floor that was introduced in their house in 2007.
