VENTURA COUNTY: 17 Health Care Grants Awarded
The Ventura Country Star reports that the Swift Memorial Health Care Foundation has awarded $76,500 in grants to 17 Ventura County health care groups:
- Assistance League School, $8,500 for the school's exterior;
- Casa Latina, $6,000 for general support;
- Khepera Recovery Homes, $6,000 for marriage and family counseling services;
- Arc Ventura County, $5,500 for hepatitis B and TB prevention;
- Interface: Children, Family Services, $5,500 for medical services to low-income children;
- Catholic Charities/OASIS, $5,000 for elderly programs;
- Planned Parenthood, Ventura Center, $5,000 for the Adelante Amigos family planning and sexual knowledge youth program;
- Turning Point Foundation, $5,000 to operate a homeless shelter;
- Help of Ojai, $4,500 for brochures;
- Santa Barbara-Ventura County Dental Society Foundation, $4,500 for expansion of its School Site Dental Treatment Program;
- Tri-Counties Easter Seals, $4,500 to resurface parking lots and driveways;
- Elderpride Inc., $3,000 for its Shop Ahoy program for the elderly;
- Free Clinic of Simi Valley, $3,000 for its Medical Services Program;
- Ventura County AIDS Partnership, $3,000 for primary prevention and support services;
- Channel Islands Multiple Sclerosis, $2,500 for adaptive exercise programs;
- Conejo Valley Senior Concerns, $2,500 to recognize and handle wanderers;
- Camp Ronald McDonald, $1,500 for children with cancer.
- Two Ventura College students received $500 for medical education.
