Vetoed
A measure (AB 1113) by Assembly member Julia Brownley (D-Woodland Hills) sought to allow disabled Medi-Cal beneficiaries who are temporarily unemployed to continue receiving Medi-Cal benefits for up to one year (Bill Text, 9/7). Schwarzenegger said the legislation would have resulted in unequal treatment of Medi-Cal beneficiaries (Veto statement, 10/13). (.pdf)
Under SB 260 by Sen. Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento), Medi-Cal would have provided separate reimbursements for separate visits by a beneficiary on the same day to different health care providers. The bill looked specifically at dental or mental health visits in conjunction with health care services (Bill Text, 9/7). The governor vetoed the bill, arguing that the measure would increase Medi-Cal costs to an unaffordable level (Veto statement, 10/14). (.pdf).
