14 Calif. Hospitals Among Truven Health’s List of 100 Best Facilities
Fourteen California hospitals made Truven Health Analytics' 22nd annual list of the "100 Top Hospitals," the Sacramento Bee reports.
For the annual list, which began in 1993, Truven evaluates U.S. hospitals' performance in various areas of patient care and operations (Glover, Sacramento Bee, 3/3).
California Hospitals on List
Fourteen California hospitals made the list this year, up from 13 last year.
The California hospitals that made the list of the best teaching hospitals included:
- Stanford Hospital, which made the list for the second time;
- UC-San Diego Medical Center, which made the list for the fourth time;
- PIH Health Hospital in Whittier, which made the list for the third time;
- Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, which made the list for the eighth time; and
- Sutter Medical Center-Sacramento, which made the list for the fifth time.
California facilities ranked among the top large community hospitals included:
- Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, which made the list for the fourth time;
- Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, which made the list for the second time; and
- Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance, which made the list for the fifth time.
Meanwhile, five California facilities made the list of best medium-sized community hospitals:
- Chino Valley Medical Center, which made the list for the fourth time;
- Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville, which made the list for the eighth time;
- French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, which made the list for the second time;
- Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center, which made the list for the fourth time; and
- Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding, which made the list for the third time.
Sutter Tracy Community Hospital was the only California facility included in the list of top small community hospitals (100 Top Hospitals list, 3/2).
