5.4M California Residents at Risk for Health Issues Related to Living Near Oil or Gas Wells, Report Finds
More than 5 million California residents live within one mile of an oil or gas well, and increasing drilling could leave them more at risk to health issues caused by air and water pollution, according to a report released Wednesday by a the Natural Resources Defense Council. The report found that most of the 5.4 million Californians living near an active oil or gas well reside in Los Angeles and Kern counties.
