A $6 million research project conducted by San Diego State University seeks to tackle childhood obesity by getting kids more involved in gardening and eating more fruits and vegetables. The Imperial County Childhood Obesity Project also aims to bolster school physical education departments, provide family wellness workshops on nutrition and exercise and get pediatricians to educate families on setting healthy eating goals for their children.
