ALAMEDA COUNTY: Healthy Families, Kaiser Permanente Program Woo Uninsured Children
"Two programs offering health care coverage for uninsured children [Saturday] conducted a colorful kickoff in conjunction with the fourth annual 'The World Lives in Hayward' festival," the Hayward Daily Review reports. Healthy Families and Kaiser Permanente's Cares for Kids Health Plan were "featured prominently at the festival" that was organized to "encourage families to sign up their uninsured children for health care services." Luis Pardo, Healthy Families outreach coordinator for the Alameda County Interagency Children's Policy Council, said, "We've got about 30,000 kids uninsured in the county. So we're trying to encourage people to sign up." About 600 people attended the festival, which "brought together community organizations and local agencies to provide information about social and health services to the community" (Robinson, 10/20).
