ALTERNATIVE SERVICES: Blue Shield’s Mylifepath.com Offers Services Online
Blue Shield of California Tuesday announced the launch of www.mylifepath.com, an online health management tool that can be customized to deliver requested health information. The personalized news and information on the website can be used by anyone throughout the country -- regardless of Blue Shield member status -- but Californians who visit the site can take advantage of discounts from a network of acupuncturists, chiropractors and massage therapists, as well as a network of spa and fitness centers. Users can also design customized e-mail reminders that track important health information. The interactive website is a new feature of Blue Shield's Mylifepath program, which was designed to better serve the 70% of Americans who use alternative services. Wayne Moon, chair and CEO of Blue Shield, said the site "is breaking new ground for health plans and Blue Shield. Not only are we providing our members with a new tool to empower them to take an active role in their health and wellness, but we are also opening our doors to offer many of the same services to all Californians." Dr. Al Martin, medical director for Blue Shield, said the website "is a valuable resource for those who want to create unique, personally driven solutions for maintaining their health and well-being." The site was developed in conjunction with Consumer Health Interactive and Consensus Health Corporation (Blue Shield release, 10/7).
