Appointee Brings Health Background to Administration
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) on Wednesday announced the appointment of a former staff member at a health care consumer group to his administration. Robert Gore (R) of Dixon will leave his position as public affairs director for Californians for Patient Care to join the Schwarzenegger administration as deputy cabinet secretary.
Before joining Californians for Patient Care in 2004, Gore was a vice president of governmental affairs for CH2M Hill. Gore also has worked as vice president for the Association of California Insurance Companies and press secretary for former Gov. George Deukmejian (R).
Annual compensation is $117,996 for the position, which does not require Senate confirmation.
Board Appointments
The governor on Wednesday also appointed:
- John Bettinger (R), a dentist, to the Dental Board of California. Senate confirmation is not required for the position, and compensation is $100 per diem.
- John Hillnksi (R), M.D., to the Californian Health Facilities Financing Authority. There is no salary for the position, and Senate confirmation is not required (Office of the Governor release, 2/7).
