Appointments to Health-Related Boards Announced
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) on Wednesday announced several appointments to state boards and offices, including the following health-related positions:
- Connie DaMant (D) was appointed assistant director of legislation for the Department of Aging. DaMant has been a legislative coordinator for the Department of Health Services since 2000 and previously worked as an analyst for the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program. The position pays $74,064 annually and does not require Senate confirmation.
- Josh Valdez (R) was appointed to the Health Policy and Data Advisory Commission. Valdez has worked as a senior vice president of health care management for health insurer WellPoint's western division since 2003, and in 2001 he was appointed director of Region IX for HHS. The position pays $100 per diem and does not require Senate confirmation (Office of the Governor release, 6/6).
