Assembly Member Introduces Bill To Rate Prescription Drugs According to Cost Effectiveness
Assembly member Ellen Corbett (D-San Leandro) last month introduced a bill (AB 2326) that would require the Department of Managed Health Care to create a report card to rate prescription drugs based on their cost effectiveness, the Oakland Tribune reports. Under the bill, which is intended to help control increasing prescription drug costs, the report card would be updated biannually and be available to the public. The California Labor Federation, AFL-CIO and advocacy groups Consumers Union and Senior Action Network have endorsed the bill, according to Corbett (Oakland Tribune, 3/19).
