On Wednesday, Brown & Toland Medical Group, one of the largest individual physician practice associations in the Bay Area, reported $12 million in operating income for 2007, more than three times higher than the $3.34 million in net income that the group reported for 2006, the San Francisco Business Times reports.
Revenue increased by about 6% to $235 million from $221.67 million in 2006.
Brown & Toland also reported receiving about $4 million in pay-for-performance and related bonuses in 2007 from health plans. In addition, the physician group said it will distribute $8.2 million in bonus payments to eligible physicians this year, up from $7.2 million in 2007.
About 1,500 contracting physicians compose the medical group, which serves about 300,000 HMO and PPO members in San Francisco and surrounding communities (Rauber, San Francisco Business Times, 4/30).
