Bill Would Cut Medicare Fraud Document Requests
On Tuesday, Reps. Sam Graves (R-Mo.) and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) reintroduced legislation (HR 1250) that would limit documentation requests during investigations of potential Medicare fraud. The bill would reduce the number of "additional document requests" from investigators to 2% of hospitals' claims and create new penalties against investigators who repeatedly fail to meet recovery audit requirements.
