Calif. Rep. Opens Hearings on Health, Other Programs
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, on Tuesday opened a series of four hearings aimed at examining the Bush administration's management of Iraq reconstruction, homeland security and federal health care programs, the Washington Times reports.
The committee Friday will examine whether more congressional oversight is needed to address "fraudulent, abusive or wasteful" pricing by drug companies in business with Medicare, Medicaid and other health programs (Miller, Washington Times, 2/6).
