California Health Care Personnel News Update for August 2013
California Department of Developmental Services
On Aug. 28, Terri Delgadillo resigned as director of the state Department of Developmental Services.
Delgadillo said that health problems prompted her resignation but that she will stay in the position until the end of the year if her health allows.
She has held the position since 2006 (Gabrielson, Center for Investigative Reporting, 8/28).
California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco
Vernon Giang has been named chief medical officer of California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
He previously served as president and medical director at the Pacific Inpatient Medical Group, a provider affiliated with CPMC.
He succeeds retiring CMO Allan Pont (Rauber, "Bay Area BizTalk," San Francisco Business Times, 8/5).
CalPERS
Liana Bailey-Crimmins has been named CIO of the IT services branch at CalPERS.
She began the position on Aug. 5 (Anderson, Sacramento Business Journal, 8/1).
Corona Regional Medical Center
On Aug. 28, Kevan Metcalfe resigned as CEO and managing director of Corona Regional Medical Center.
No reason was given for his resignation.
Jared Giles -- COO at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta -- will succeed Metcalfe until a permanent CEO is named (Fischetti, Riverside Press-Enterprise, 8/28).
Kaiser Permanente, San Joaquin County
On Aug. 8, Jose Rivera announced that he will retire as Kaiser Permanente administrator for San Joaquin County.
His retirement will be effective on Sept. 30 (Breitler, San Joaquin Record Net, 8/12).
San Francisco Department of Public Health
On Aug. 20, the San Francisco Department of Public Health announced that Bill Kim has been named CIO, a newly created position at the agency.
Kim previously was director of information technology at Dignity Health (Rauber, "Bay Area BizTalk," San Francisco Business Times, 8/20).
Solta Medical, Hayward
On Aug. 6, Stephen Fanning stepped down as president and CEO of Solta Medical, a provider of non-surgical cosmetic treatment devices.
Mark Sieczkarek -- chair of Solta's board -- has been named interim president and CEO (Leuty, "BiotechSF," San Francisco Business Times, 8/6).
