California Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau Governing Committee
Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner (R) has appointed Michael Joseph Murray to the California Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau Governing Committee.
Murray has served as CEO of the Forma Group, a manufacturing company based in the Bay Area, since 2001 (California Department of Insurance release, 5/13).
Coalinga State Hospital
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) named Jose Valencia clinical administrator of Coalinga State Hospital. Valencia served as the acting clinical administrator of the facility.
The position does not require Senate confirmation. Annual compensation is $95,808 (Office of the Governor release, 5/26).
El Camino Hospital
On May 4, El Camino Hospital named Paul Billings acting director and chief science officer of its new Genomic Medicine Institute, the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal reports.
Billings has been involved in a number of genomic science ventures in the private sector (Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal, 5/4).
UC-San Francisco
Susan Desmond-Hellman has been nominated to serve as chancellor of UC-San Francisco, the Los Angeles Times reports (Gordon, Los Angeles Times, 5/2).
Desmond-Hellman was an executive at the biotechnology firm Genentech (Abate, San Francisco Chronicle, 5/2).
UC-Davis MIND Institute
Robert Hendren is leaving his post as executive director at the UC-Davis MIND Institute to become the director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and vice chair of the Department of Psychiatry at UCSF, the Sacramento Business Journal reports.
Robert Hales, a member of the board of directors at the MIND Institute, will serve as acting director until a replacement for Hendren is named (Robertson, Sacramento Business Journal, 5/21).
