California Ranks Near Top in Workers’ Comp Costs
Despite changes to the state's workers' compensation system that have reduced employers' costs by as much as $15 billion annually, California still ranks second nationwide in terms of employer burden, according to the 2008 Industry Week Workers' Compensation State Ranking. Only Alaska's workers' compensation program placed a higher burden on employers, according to the survey.
