California Set To Collect $23M From Drugmaker in Medicaid Fraud Deal
Bristol Myers will pay California $23 million to settle charges that the pharmaceutical firm inflated prices for Medi-Cal and inappropriately marketed its drugs, the AP/San Francisco Chronicle reports. Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program.
California Attorney General Jerry Brown (D) announced the settlement amount on Tuesday. He said the agreement arises from an inquiry by investigators from the federal government, California and other states.
In total, 20 states will share about $515 million to settle the charges (AP/San Francisco Chronicle, 7/15).
