CalPERS CEO Burton To Leave Position This Month
CalPERS officials on Monday announced that CEO James Burton will leave the health system by Aug. 23, earlier than expected, to take a position with the World Gold Council in London, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. In May, Burton announced his resignation and said that he would leave CalPERS by the end of the year. According to CalPERS spokesperson Brad Pacheco, the board of trustees will likely name an interim CEO next week (Wallace, San Francisco Chronicle, 8/13). Pacheco added that CalPERS plans to name a permanent replacement for Burton within two months (Reuters/Los Angeles Times, 8/13).
