CalPERS Pushes for Corporate Governance Changes at Eli Lilly
On Tuesday, CalPERS introduced a shareholder resolution that calls on drugmaker Eli Lilly to permit shareholders to change company bylaws through a proxy vote, the Sacramento Bee reports.
CalPERS owns 3.4 million shares of Eli Lilly, or about 0.3% of the company's stock (Kasler, Sacramento Bee, 4/2). CalPERS' holdings currently are valued at about $100 million.
The pension fund introduced the same resolution last year that won support from 49% of shareholders.
The current resolution will go before shareholders at the company meeting April 20.
CalPERS has included Eli Lilly on its Focus List of Underperforming Companies for two consecutive years (Anderson, Sacramento Business Journal, 4/1).
