CalPERS To Address Health Care Costs at Meeting With General Motors, Ford
CalPERS on Sept. 21 in Sacramento will meet with General Motors and Ford Motor Co. to discuss hospital care costs, the Sacramento Bee reports. CalPERS officials announced the meeting on Monday.
The meeting will address plans to implement uniform quality standards at California hospitals to help slow the rate of health care cost increases and improve the quality of care. CalPERS, which purchases health care benefits for about 1.2 million people, attributes the rate of health care cost increases primarily to hospital pricing (Ortiz, Sacramento Bee, 8/23).
