Cancer Groups Launch Online Research Guide
The National Cancer Institute, the Department of Defense's Office of Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs and the British National Cancer Research Institute have developed an online database of current cancer research funded by the United States, the United Kingdom and private groups, Government Computer News reports. The International Cancer Research Portfolio contains more than 13,000 records of research abstracts, researchers, funding and awards. The database will help cancer researchers plan and find partners for their projects, according to the National Cancer Institute. Users can search the site according to cancer type, research area or funding group. Organizations that sponsor research also can use the site to help determine future funding (Mosquera, Government Computer News, 6/27).
